Navigating basic options in Magento

We sometimes use Magento, mostly for websites that are purely for ecommerce.
You will most likely use Magento for Print Mule. https://printmule.co.uk/index.php/mulelogin

Login using your own username and password, or the credentials found in Keepass

There are 11 menu options:

  • Dashboard
  • Sales
  • Catalogue
  • Customers
  • Promotions
  • Newsletter
  • CMS
  • CueBlocks
  • Google Shopping
  • Results
  • System

DASHBOARD

When you first login you’ll be taken to the dashboard.

This shows search terms and orders.

SALES
Orders
This shows all orders that have been placed through the website, including
the order number, purchase date, name of customer, costs and the status of
the order.

If you click on an order, you can view more details about an order including information, delivery addresses etc. From here you can also create invoices, send an email, hold, deliver or delete the order.

Invoices
this shows all invoices that have been sent out to customers.

Deliveries
this shows all deliveries that have been made, and where they are going.

Credit Memos
this is a place to store credit memos.

Transactions
this shows all transactions that have been made, and their payment method. If you click on a transaction you can view more details.

Billing Agreements
this is where a customer’s details for billing will appear when they are different to what has been entered elsewhere.

Terms and Conditions
this is where you can add and edit terms and conditions to hold on the site

VAT
From here you can manage VAT rules, time zones, rates, import and export rates, customer vat classes and product VAT classes.

Percent shipping
here you can manage shipping methods and other shipping settings

CATALOGUE

Manage Products
this is one of the pages you are likely to use often. This allows you to add and edit products. When searching for a product, you want to filter the ‘type’ to configurable product. This then includes all variations on that product. If you click on a product, you’ll be taken to product information. From here you can edit the descriptions, product details and images.

Manage Feeds
this is a list of the online feeds where Printmule will appear. From here you can also manage templates, filters, category mapping, dynamic attributes, reports and extra settings.

Manage Categories
this is where you can manage and create categories for products. For example, leaflets will be one category to hold individual leaflet products. You can also create subcategories.

Attributes
Here you can manage attributes and manage attribute sets. Attributes can
include varying colours, costs, custom designs and image galleries.

Sets include the above attributes but set for categories.

URL Rewrite Management
this is where the permalinks can be changed to direct to a more logical name path.

Search Terms
this shows the most recent searches on the website.

Google Sitemap
this is a store of the sitemap of the website.

CUSTOMERS

Manage Customers
this shows all the customers who have signed up to Printmule and their details. By clicking on a name, you can view their personal information, what’s in their basket and wish list, addresses, orders.

Customer Groups
these are groups of assorted customers. Currently for Printmule we have General, not logged in, retailer and wholesaler.

Online Customers
this shows the online customers who are currently active on the site. This also shows their IP address.

PROMOTIONS

Catalogue Price Rules
here you can add specific rules for the catalogue

Shopping Basket Price Rules
Here are shopping basket price rules which can include discounts

NEWSLETTER

Newsletter Templates
Here you will find newsletter templates

Newsletter Queue
if you have newsletters ready to send, they can be added here to queue them until needed

Newsletter Subscribers
this shows people who have subscribed to the newsletter, and their email address/details.

Newsletter Problem Reports
if a problem is reported with the newsletters from a customer,
the alert will appear here.

 MailChimp
If you have synchronised with MailChimp, the settings will appear here. You can manage Ecommerce 360 orders, bulk sync, and emails sent.

Mandrill Settings
this allows you to configure mandrill integration.

CMS

Pages
this shows pages on the website. This does not include category pages, or shop/product pages. From here you can edit the information, content, design and Meta data.

Static Blocks
this is like widgets in WordPress. In here are footer links, sidebars, cookie notices and landing pages.

Widgets
Here you can manage when widgets appear if required.

CUEBLOCKS

Robots
this is where you can allow and disallow bots. On Printmule we allow googlebot, adsbot-google and googlebot-image.

GOOGLE SHOPPING

This extension uploads your shop and product data to google shopping on the google search engine and other google services.

REPORTS

Sales
In here you can manage orders, VAT, invoiced, delivery, refunds, vouchers and PayPal settlement reports.

Shopping Basket
In here you can view products in baskets and abandoned baskets

Products
Manage: Best Sellers, Products Ordered, Most Viewed, Low Stock and Downloads.

Customers
Manage: New Accounts, Customers by orders total, customers by number of orders

Reviews
Reviews are currently unclickable. However this would be where
reviews are logged, if enabled.

Search Terms
this shows the most recent searches on the website.

Refresh Statistics
If you wish to view the most up to date statistics on orders, VAT, delivery, total invoiced, total refunded, vouches, best sellers and most viewed, then click in this tab and select Submit.

SYSTEM

Google Analytics Pro
this allows you to integrate google analytics with your site and its settings.

My Account
this shows you individual account details

Notifications
these are notifications provided by Magento. These are sorted by severity, and minor ones are usually just updates.

Tools
Here you can access and perform backups and compilation states.

Web Services
Here you can access:
– SOAP/XML-RPC – Users

-SOAP/XML-RPC – Roles

-REST – roles

-REST – attributes

-REST – OAuth Consumers

-REST – OAuth Authorised Tokens

-REST -My Apps

Design
this shows design configurations for specific time durations

Import/Export
Control imports, exports and dataflows

Manage Currency
Here you can set which currency to use, and the foreign exchange rates if necessary. You can also manage the symbols to use for each.

Transactional Emails
Provided by Mandrill, these are the emails sent out to the customer upon a certain action.

Custom Variables
this is a location point for additional custom variables and their codes.

Permissions
Here you can control and manage the permissions for: Users, Roles, Variables and
Blocks.

Magento Connect
This allows you to run the MagentoConnect managers, and extenstion packages

Cache Management
This is where all information stored in cache is displayed, you can also flush the cache should you need to.

Index Management
This controls the indexing of pages when they are created or edited ensuring that everything is up to date on the site and in search engine results.

Manage Shops
This is for sites that have more than one online store.

Order Statuses
These are the statuses you can set for each part of the ordering process.

Configuration
This allows you to configure extra extensions, and pages.
