Uploading Categories in Magento

1. Navigate to the back end of your Magento website
2. Go to Catalogue, Manage Categories

ROOT (MAIN) CATEGORIES

A root category is one which will show in the main menu of your site.

1. In manage categories, select Add Root Category.
2. Insert a name for your category.
3. Select whether your category will be active or not.
4. Insert a description if necessary.
5. Add in image and page title if necessary
6. Be sure to add meta keywords and description
7. Select whether this category should be shown in the navigation menu.
8. In the Display Settings tab, you can configure display modes and listing sorting
9. In Custom Design, you can design the page for your category and the products within.
10. In the Menu option, you can select the type of menus it will contain and how
11. In category products you can select products to feature in your category.
12. Click Save Category once you are complete.

SUBCATEGORIES

Follow the same instructions as above, with the exception of choosing a parent category.
