Blogging Process

• First research what you are writing your article about.
• Ensure you have come up with a blog structure in MS word.
• You will need a login for WordPress to upload the blog.

Remember!

• The image you upload should be as small in size as possible without compromising quality.

• Always click preview first before publishing and get someone else to proofread the article.
• Check the SEO section to see recommendations for improvements.
• Don’t forget to share the blog on all the social media pages.

How to Upload the Blog

1. Once you have written the blog in Word you are now ready to upload it on to the website via WordPress.
2. https://silvertoad.co.uk/st_admin/– Using this web address it will bring you to the login screen. Here you should enter your login details. This link will change depending on the customer so please speak with the web team for the up to date link/login details.
3. Now click Posts > all posts. Here you will be able to see all of the blog posts. If you wish to upload a new blog please click the add new button.
4. Now you can add the title in the top box and the body of text in the larger white box below it. Simply copy and paste it from Microsoft word
5. Once you have put all the text in you can then scroll down the page to see an option on the right hand side bar which says “set featured image”. Click this to upload your image.
6. You will then be faced with the image settings screen. Here you can click select files and it will allow you to navigate to your desktop and click the image you would like to use. Then you will see a sidebar on the right. Here you need to put in a description which best describes the image and an Alt tag which is a shorter version. This is so Google can understand what the content is. Once this is done click set featured image.
7. You will then be taken back to the page in step 4. You now need to scroll down the page until you find the below SEO section. Here you need to put the main keyword for the blog article, this is generally the main topic of the blog or what people would search for. Below that you can add more keywords that are relevant to the article. Also right at the bottom it will give you an analysis of what is good and what is bad. Green being good, Orange okay and red bad. Pay attention to the analysis and improve the blog the best you can.
8. Make sure you click the preview button below to double check the article before publishing.
9. Finally you can scroll back up to the top of the page and click the publish button located to the right of the main text box.
