Installing Plugins in WordPress

If you do not already have a link to the plugin:

  1. Log in to the back end of your site (for example, dev.silvertoad.co.uk/yoursite/wp-admin)
  2. In the sidebar, navigate to the Plugins category.
  3. Select Add New
  4. Search for the plugin you wish to install by name
  5. Click Install Now
  6. Once the plugin has completed installation, click Activate.
  7. Your plugin might take you through some extra set up steps
  8. Your plugin is now installed and activated.

If you already have the plugin downloaded or a link to download a plugin:

  1. If you have a link, follow it and download the plugin file.
  2. Go to the back end of your site
  3. In the sidebar, navigate to the plugins category
  4. Select add new
  5. Select Upload Plugin
  6. Drag and drop your plugin file into the box.
  7. Click install now
  8. Click activate

There are a few plugins we regularly install at Silvertoad. Check with Keir/the account manager over which ones are needed. When making a site live, there are a set of WordPress plugins you need to install. These are stored in Evernote. If you do not have access to the file on there, then ask Keir to share the file with you.
